6 Advantages

  1. Ozone is very reactive and corrosive, thus requiring corrosive materials like stainless steel should be used.

 

 

  1. As Ozone is extremely irritating and possibly toxic you must monitor and control for any leakages.

 

 

Advantages

 

  1. The biggest advantage is that it can kill Corona Covid Sars Virus

 

Japanese researchers have found that Ozone is capable of killing Corona Virus bypassing low concentrations of ozone. Recent observations made from several places reveal that Viral RNA of the Corona Virus was found in the sewage across India. It is highly recommended and advisable to use Ozone for disinfection.

 

 

  1. Ozone is more effective than commonly used chlorine in killing Viruses and Bacteria.

 

Studies made on Ozone showed that it can rupture the outer layer of microorganisms and dissolve them permanently killing them. Apart from Ozone also oxidizes minerals and various other particles. Whereas chlorine does kill all the micro-organisms and at some times not highly effective. Thus making Ozone one of the best disinfectants compared to chlorine.

Chlorine is added to treat the water, reacts with chemicals and form residues. The chlorine present in water gets concentrated over a while, as you recycle. This not only deteriorates the quality of water but also forms various residues. Ozone does not produce any residues and it dissolves in the water.

When you ozonate the water, microorganisms completely get killed.  There are no chances for re-growth of micro-organisms if it is kept in a concealed environment. Micro-organisms start to develop from sources of the outlet or external sources.

Ozone does not require any consumables, it is produced onsite using an Ozone generator. Unlike chlorine, you need not have to maintain any stock, monitor, or have problems like handling and shipping.

Ozone consists of 3 Oxygen atoms, which after ozonation oxygen molecules split and dissolve to oxygen (O2).  Dissolved oxygen enhances the quality of water and also increase DO in the receiving water.

             

 

Disadvantages

If you do not calculate the ozone requirement properly, it will be ineffective to kill the micro-organisms. Leakages also can cause ineffective treatment. We always recommend maintaining an appropriate concentration of ozone.

As Ozone is very corrosive and very reactive, it has to be carefully handled. Stainless steel is the best material to use. We use Stainless steel venturi where ozone is injected into the water. If not corrosion happens over some time.

Ozone irritates and is also toxic if you breathe in. You should regularly monitor for any leakages. Thankfully there are ozone meters to check the ozone level in the air. I can also be linked to the Generator and it will automatically shut down if the levels are abnormal.
